OOLTEWAH — Jasminne Lynn Thomas, 22, of Dayton, was arrested on July 9, 2026, and charged with attempted first-degree murder. The arrest followed a July 4, 2026, incident in Ooltewah where a 33-year-old man sustained a stab wound.

Deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office patrol division responded to 5204 Village Garden Drive on July 4. They found the man bleeding from a stab wound to his upper right thigh. Deputies administered a tourniquet before Hamilton County EMS transported him to the hospital.

The victim's mother and her boyfriend stated they returned home between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to find the man bleeding. They said Thomas was present and stated, "I didn't stab him." The victim told his mother that Thomas had stabbed him. Thomas fled on foot before law enforcement arrived.

Detectives documented blood stains in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Blood was also observed pooled in the hallway. A stainless steel Cuisinart kitchen knife with an approximate 9-inch blade was located on the kitchen table, with visible blood on the tip of the blade.

The victim informed detectives that he and Thomas had entered his mother's house around 8:00 p.m. on July 4. He stated he had used controlled substances earlier that day and that Thomas had recently used meth. During an argument, the victim said Thomas accused him of "trafficking her." He stated Thomas became physical, threatened to "stab him," and grabbed a kitchen knife. The victim said Thomas attempted to stab him, ultimately stabbing his thigh when he tried to push her away.
