NASHVILLE — Actor Justin Baldoni posted a five-minute video on Instagram on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, in Nashville. The video addressed their experiences following the settlement of a lawsuit filed by Blake Lively and discussed ongoing legal processes.

Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment in December 2024. She alleged that Wayfarer Studios retaliated against her after she complained about misconduct on the set of the film "It Ends With Us." Baldoni denied Lively's claims.

U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed most of Lively's claims against Baldoni, including harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. The judge ruled that Lively could not pursue certain claims under federal civil rights law because she was an independent contractor, not an employee. However, Judge Liman allowed three claims to proceed: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation.

Baldoni countersued Lively and Ryan Reynolds in January 2025, alleging defamation and extortion. Judge Liman later dismissed Baldoni's defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively.

Baldoni and Lively reached a settlement in May 2025, two weeks before their scheduled trial date. They issued a joint statement at the time, indicating commitment to workplaces free of improprieties. The statement noted, "The end product — the movie 'It Ends With Us' — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind." They also stated, "We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard."

In the June 18 video, Baldoni said, "What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken to existence ... over the last couple years. And that created so much noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise, so we just wanted to let the justice system run its course." Emily Baldoni added, "The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves, and here we are." She also stated that the outcome "doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years." Emily Baldoni further commented that they "had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen, let alone disguised as a fight for women."

Judge Liman allowed Lively to move forward with a request for financial damages under California Civil Code Section 47.1. Lively's legal team stated she is entitled to recover $7,495,526.87 in attorneys' fees and $539,514.01 in litigation expenses. Judge Liman stated that Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios have until July 13 to respond to Lively's request for fees.

Baldoni had not posted on Instagram since June 2025 prior to this recent video, and he has not announced any new acting or directing projects since the lawsuit was filed. Emily Baldoni said that their current focus is on "healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life." Baldoni said in the video, "Gratitude has saved us." He added, "Thank you does not feel like enough. But we're here because of so many of you and all of our friends and family. And one thing that we've learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that that's when love shows up."
