CANTON — Julius Edwards was arrested in Stow on July 7, 2026, following a multi-agency pursuit that began after he was suspected of stabbing a woman in Canton. The pursuit involved multiple incidents, including a crash, an exchange of gunfire with a state trooper, and a carjacking.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol received a notification to be on the lookout for Edwards, who was reportedly driving a gray Kia Telluride, at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Stow police were alerted at 7:17 p.m. by Flock cameras that the SUV had entered the city. Flock cameras capture still images of passing vehicles, recording license plate numbers, make, model, color, and unique features. The system continuously compares vehicle data against Amber Alerts and police watch lists, alerting local law enforcement when a vehicle associated with a crime, a missing person, or a stolen vehicle passes a camera.

State troopers located the SUV on Darrow Road in Hudson about 10 minutes after the alert from Stow police. During a subsequent pursuit, Edwards drove through a red light on Terex Road, which resulted in a crash that seriously injured other individuals, according to a highway patrol press release. The same press release stated that Edwards then ran into nearby woods and fired shots at a chasing trooper, who returned fire.

Edwards evaded initial capture and carjacked a Chrysler Town & Country minivan. A trooper later spotted Edwards driving the stolen minivan just before 8:30 p.m. and attempted to stop him. Edwards fled again after the trooper's attempt, as reported in a highway patrol press release. A chase involving multiple agencies then occurred for about 10 minutes through Fox Den Golf Course in Stow.

The pursuit concluded when Edwards' vehicle struck a Summit County Metro Parks cruiser, causing it to flip onto its roof at the intersection of Saybrook Boulevard and Bunker Lane in Stow. Witnesses stated that a silver minivan being pursued by police crashed into a parked Summit Metro Parks cruiser in Stow's Partridge Highlands neighborhood, flipping the cruiser into a nearby yard. Stow police apprehended Edwards after a brief chase on foot.
