BERGAMO — Northern Ireland will travel to Bergamo to face Italy in the World Cup play-off semi-final on Thursday, 26 March at 19:45 GMT. The winner will progress to the play-off final against either Wales or Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Northern Ireland have not qualified for the World Cup in 40 years.

"A night we are going to remember for the rest of our lives," said Josh Magennis, Exeter City forward. "When you have the opportunity to play and wear the green and white jersey, you take full advantage of it."

"We are doing our best to make it a good one, so when we look back like in 2016 that we have fond memories together and not ifs, buts and maybes," Magennis said.

Josh Magennis has scored 12 goals for the Northern Ireland national team. Magennis is one of two players in the current Northern Ireland squad who played in the 2016 European Championship in France.

Michael O'Neill manages the Northern Ireland men's national football team. O'Neill is also manager of Blackburn Rovers, a club in the EFL Championship, until the end of the season. The play-off semi-final in Bergamo will determine whether Northern Ireland can continue their pursuit of a first World Cup appearance since 1986.
