Chattanooga police have charged 24-year-old Ivan Hardwick with attempted first-degree murder, three counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and possession of methamphetamine in connection with a double-shooting on June 25 at the rear of Grove Street Market.

Investigators identified two men who fired multiple shots at College Hill Courts through several methods, including video footage. A second individual identified by police has not yet been apprehended.

A woman told police she was shot at by two men on two occasions the morning of June 25. She said the incidents stemmed from a belief that she had assaulted someone's mother. The woman stated that after the first shooting, she walked from her apartment on Grove Street toward the rear of the market, where she saw two armed men who began firing at her, causing her to run back to her apartment.

The woman said she attempted to leave in her vehicle but encountered a group of 10-12 armed individuals who also shot at her. She stated she backed up and drove away. Police reported finding no video evidence of a group of that size brandishing guns near the market.

Several witnesses confirmed hearing gunshots from behind the market. Investigators found a bullet hole in an apartment window on Grove Street, where three people were present. One shot struck the refrigerator, and an interior wall was also hit. Police found two 5.56 spent casings in the rear parking lot, 20 9mm casings in an alley near the market, and two additional 9mm casings near a Grove Street apartment.

Video footage showed two males entering a white Kia Spectra, removing items, and proceeding behind the market before shots were heard. The video captured the males running away, returning to the vehicle, and appearing to place items from their waists inside before being picked up by someone driving a white Nissan Altima. Inside the Kia, police found two 9mm shell casings, a live round, two magazines, methamphetamine, a digital scale, clear baggies, and documents bearing Hardwick's name.
