PREBLE COUNTY — A grand jury indicted LaDavid Shaw in Preble County in connection with the death of Shanae Robinson, whose body was found in a semi-truck near the Ohio-Indiana border last month. Shaw faces charges of murder, tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest.

Court records indicate that Shaw will be arraigned on his charges on July 8. He is currently held in the Preble County Jail on a $1 million bond.

According to court records, Shaw confessed to deputies at the scene of the crash. He claimed he killed Robinson because she would not stop talking. Shanae Robinson was 36 years old.

Shanae Robinson's funeral is scheduled to occur next Friday. Her sister, Shaneice Robinson, spoke about their relationship. "My younger sister, the sister I begged my mom for, I treated her like my baby. Definitely took care of her as though she were mine," Shaneice Robinson said.

Shaneice Robinson also described their shared activities. "She loved roller skating; she and I actually roller skated quite often together. We're second-generation skaters, so my mom and my uncles and everyone," she said. She commented on the reported reason for her sister's death, stating, "There's not anything anyone should ever be able to say to you that will make you put your hands around their neck until they stop breathing."

Records from the Mississippi Department of Corrections show that Shaw was sentenced on March 7, 2008, to 20 years for manslaughter. He was released on earned release supervision on Feb. 24, 2017. Current information from Mississippi state prison officials indicates that Shaw is not under any probation.

Shaneice Robinson commented on Shaw's previous release, saying, "Ruined his second chance. They gave him another chance to be outside and be a productive citizen. And here we are again. He's devastated another family."

Why It Matters

The indictment of LaDavid Shaw on murder and tampering charges marks a development in the investigation into Shanae Robinson's death. The upcoming arraignment on July 8 will address the formal charges against Shaw in court. This case also draws attention to Shaw's prior criminal record and release history.
