LAS VEGAS — Lamar Odom is expected to enter a plea deal in his Las Vegas driving under the influence (DUI) case, which will reduce the initial charge to reckless driving. The court proceedings for the plea entry are scheduled for later in July 2026.

Odom was arrested on January 17, 2026, and charged with DUI, speeding, and failure to stay in a driving lane. He pleaded not guilty in March 2026. Odom plans to enter a no-contest plea, accepting the terms of the Clark County District Attorney's Office without admitting guilt. Odom is not expected to appear in person for the plea entry.

A Nevada State Police Highway Patrol trooper observed Odom speeding along a Las Vegas highway and switching lanes without a turn signal on January 17, 2026. According to the arrest report, Odom had bloodshot eyes and smelled of marijuana when pulled over by the trooper. Odom denied drinking alcohol and told the trooper that the passenger in his vehicle was smoking marijuana. The trooper found the field sobriety tests unsatisfactory, noting Odom failed to touch the tip of his nose with his finger and lost his balance.

Attorney Michael Becker confirmed Odom's anticipated plea. "Lamar Odom is expected to enter a plea deal in a DUI case in Las Vegas," Becker said. He further stated, "Odom plans to enter a no-contest plea that will reduce his initial DUI charge to a reckless driving charge."

Odom was scheduled for a bench trial on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Las Vegas Justice Court, but the hearing was continued. According to the 2026 arrest report, Odom told the trooper that he had experienced 12 strokes and six heart attacks and had been poisoned at a brothel in Pahrump.

Odom previously faced a DUI charge in Los Angeles in 2013, to which he pleaded no contest and received three years of probation. In 2015, he suffered a medical episode during a stay at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada. Odom won NBA championships in 2009 and 2010 with the Los Angeles Lakers. During his 14-year NBA career, he also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and Dallas Mavericks. Odom married Khloe Kardashian in 2013, and they divorced months later that same year.
