LONDON — Tottenham Hotspur have entered into advanced talks with Roberto de Zerbi to become the club's head coach immediately. The talks between Tottenham Hotspur and Roberto de Zerbi have been described as positive and are heading towards a final agreement.

Tottenham Hotspur would offer Roberto de Zerbi a long-term contract. Roberto de Zerbi previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League and left Olympique de Marseille in February.

The potential appointment comes as Tottenham Hotspur are 17th in the Premier League, one point above the Premier League relegation zone. Tottenham Hotspur have not won any Premier League matches in 2026.

Igor Tudor left his role as interim head coach of Tottenham Hotspur by mutual consent after 44 days in charge following a 3-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest. Tottenham Hotspur delayed parting ways with Igor Tudor to allow him time to mourn his father's death. Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange have been tasked with appointing a replacement for the interim head coach position at Tottenham Hotspur.

Several Tottenham Hotspur supporters' groups have voiced opposition to appointing Roberto de Zerbi due to his past support for Mason Greenwood. "When someone in that position publicly defends a player like Mason Greenwood, and frames it in a way that downplays the seriousness of what happened, it matters, not just in isolation but in what it signals," Proud Lilywhites said.

Mason Greenwood left Manchester United to join Olympique de Marseille in 2023. Charges against Mason Greenwood, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped.

Sean Dyche has been considered as a short-term managerial candidate for Tottenham Hotspur. Sean Dyche was sacked by Nottingham Forest in February and has a record of keeping clubs in the Premier League.

Adi Hütter, former head coach of AS Monaco, has been mentioned as a candidate for Tottenham Hotspur's managerial position. "I would prefer not to work as a head coach again until the start of the new season at the earliest," Hütter said in a statement to an Austrian broadcaster. "My position on this matter has not changed since then," Hütter said in the same statement.

Ryan Mason, Harry Redknapp, and Tim Sherwood are being considered as interim head coaches for Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.
