WASHINGTON, D.C. — Donald Trump spoke at an event on the National Mall on Saturday night between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. A storm caused a four-hour delay to the event. Susie Wiles serves as Trump's chief of staff. Trump and Melania Trump appeared on a temporary stage framed by blue lights and featuring a red-and-white arch.

Trump introduced centenarian veterans of Pearl Harbor, D-Day and Iwo Jima, as well as the crew of Artemis II and Jack Schmitt of Apollo 17, who walked on the moon in 1972. During the speech, Trump promoted the Save America Act, stating it would require voter identification and proof of citizenship. He said, "We want to keep America great, and we will do so by approving the Save America Act, which means all voters must show voter ID." He added, "All voters must provide proof of citizenship." Regarding mail-in voting, Trump stated, "And there will be no mail-in ballots, except for illnesses, disability, military deployment, or travel," and concluded, "You won't have cheating in the elections any more."

Trump made claims about military victories, stating, "It flew atop our flagship after America's navy sank the Spanish fleet to the bottom of Manila Bay — one of the greatest naval victories in history." He also said, "Much like our recent victory sinking the entire Iranian navy: 159 ships to the bottom of the sea, all done in just a moment's time." When addressing the Artemis II crew and Schmitt, Trump asked, "So I assume you're heading to Mars next?" and stated, "I think that is something we do have in mind — we'll do the moon, and then we'll go from there, to Mars, and continue to be way ahead." In his closing remarks, Trump referred to Washington as "safe, gleaming and beautiful again" and referenced the "Gulf of America." A firework display accompanied by loud music followed the speech.
