WASHINGTON DC — Hundreds of masked members of Patriot Front marched in Washington DC on July 4, 2026, carrying Confederate flags and chanting nationalist slogans. The demonstration began in front of Union Station and processed toward Capitol Hill.

Members of Patriot Front wore white masks during the march. They chanted "Life, liberty, victory!" and "Reclaim America!" Some members rode the DC Metro wearing their masks. Thomas Rousseau, the founder of Patriot Front, appeared to lead the demonstration.

The Metropolitan Police Department addressed the event, stating, "MPD is tracking First Amendment activities that occurred this morning in the Eastern Market neighborhood." The Washington DC police agency added, "MPD recognizes the rights of individuals to peacefully express their views and remains committed to maintaining public safety and security for DC residents and visitors." Counter-protesters also gathered. Participants dispersed by midday on July 4, 2026.

Patriot Front was established in 2017 following the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, emerging as a splinter faction of Vanguard America. The Anti-Defamation League describes the group as white supremacist. The Southern Poverty Law Center identifies it as a far-right, neo-Nazi organization. According to the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center, the group's stated goal is the creation of a white ethno-state. Morgan Moon, an investigative researcher with the ADL Center on Extremism, stated, "No other white supremacist group operating in the US today is able to match Patriot Front's ability to produce media, ability to mobilize across the country and ability to finance." Moon added, "That's what makes them a particular concern." The organization's website states: "democracy has failed America." The website also states: "Nationhood cannot be bestowed upon those who are not of the founding stock of our people, and those who do not share the common spirit that permeates our greater civilization, and the European diaspora."
