LONDON — Arsenal completed the transfer of England midfielder Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal, effective July 3, 2026. The transfer took place upon the expiry of Stanway's contract at Bayern Munich.

Stanway, who is 27 years old, announced her departure from Bayern Munich in January 2026. She spent four years playing for the German club after leaving Manchester City in 2022. During her time with Bayern Munich, Stanway made 128 appearances and scored 32 goals, contributing to four Frauen-Bundesliga titles, two German Cups, and two German Super Cups.

Before joining Bayern Munich, Stanway spent seven seasons at Manchester City, making her debut at age 16. With Manchester City, she won one WSL title, three FA Cups, and three League Cups. Stanway has also achieved success on the international stage, scoring 33 goals in 93 games for England.

She won the Women's European Championship with England in both 2022 and 2025. Additionally, Stanway was part of the England squads that won two Arnold Clark Cups, the Women's Finalissima, and the SheBelieves Cup. She was also awarded an MBE for her contributions to the national team and featured for Great Britain at the Olympic Games in 2021.

"It's an unbelievable feeling and I'm so proud to be joining Arsenal," Stanway said. She added that she views Arsenal as "a massive club that is driving the women's game forward to new levels and I want to be a part of it."

Renee Slegers, the Arsenal coach, commented on Stanway's arrival. "Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we're thrilled that she is an Arsenal player," Slegers said. She added that Stanway "will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality." This acquisition marks Arsenal's first signing of the summer transfer window.
