NEWPORT — Christian Fuchs resigned as manager of Newport County on June 27, 2026. He had served in the position for seven months.

Newport County Chairman Huw Jenkins stated that Fuchs expressed a desire to step down and that he could not alter his decision. Jenkins explained that Fuchs did not provide extensive details but conveyed that he felt he had little left to offer the club moving forward.

"Christian gave us his view that he wanted to step down, and I couldn't change his mind," Jenkins said. He added, "He didn't elaborate much to me, he just felt that, at this point in time, he didn't have a lot to give us going forward."

Following Fuchs' departure, Chris Todd has been placed in temporary charge of Newport County. Todd joined the coaching staff in March 2026. The club, which helped remain in the Football League on the final day of the 2025-26 season, is scheduled to start its League Two campaign on August 15, 2026.

Jenkins is currently seeking a new manager for the club. He has appointed three managers in just over two years. Kevin Nolan has been mentioned as a possible contender for the open position. Fuchs resides in the north of England. Jenkins is also the former chairman of Swansea City.
