CANYON LAKE, TEXAS — The Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County has opened three boat ramps at Canyon Lake for the July 4, 2026, holiday weekend and will host a "Liberty on the Lake" fireworks show. The display is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. and will feature fireworks launched from a barge in the middle of the lake.

The three open boat ramps are Canyon Park (ramp #18), Canyon Lake Marina (ramp #19), and Jacob's Creek Park at the Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park (ramp #14). Canyon Park's boat ramp operates from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., then reopens at 7:30 p.m. for free fireworks entry. Fees are $20 for out-of-county vehicles, $5 for Comal County vehicles, and free for disabled veterans. Canyon Lake Marina's boat ramp hours are extended to run from 9:00 a.m. until after the fireworks, with a fee of $30. Jacob's Creek Park will be open from 8:00 a.m. until after the fireworks, with a fee of $20 per vehicle or $15 for vehicles with a D.O.D. ID.

Canyon Lake is down nearly 21 feet from its full level as of July 3, 2026, but is 10.5 feet higher than it was on July 3, 2025. Mike Dussere, general manager of the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County, said, "Compared to a year ago today, Canyon Lake is up almost 10-and-a-half feet from where it was, and it's fantastic." Wes Walker, operations manager for the district, discussed the fireworks plan says in a podcast interview, "Then the idea was, 'well, do you want to do it off a barge in the middle of the lake?'" He added, "And then somebody piped up, and they're like, 'oh, it is the 250th.' And I was like 'all right, fair enough. Go big or go home, right?'" Walker also said, "We're going to make this thing awesome," and "It's going to be huge."
