METRO DETROIT — Ray's Ice Cream in Royal Oak introduced a new flavor called Firecracker Pop, which combines blue moon ice cream with Firecracker Pop Oreos. The establishment has been in operation in Royal Oak since 1958 and is located at 4233 Coolidge Highway.

Blank Slate Creamery, which has operated in Ann Arbor for more than ten years, uses milk and cream from Guernsey Farms Dairy in Northville. It has two locations in Ann Arbor and one in Brighton, serving flavors such as Fresh Basil with lemon olive oil and Peanut Butter Fluff and Stuff.

Cold Truth provides entirely vegan, non-dairy soft-serve ice cream using a coconut cream base. It has locations in Ann Arbor, Ferndale, and Midtown Detroit, with the Midtown Detroit shop located at 4240 Cass Ave., Ste. 100.

Holy Cow Creamery, established in 2010 in Wyandotte at 939 Ford Ave., offers Dole Whip, a fruit-based, dairy-free soft-serve option.

Ice Cream Detroit, located at 3762 Second Ave., Detroit, infuses its ice creams and sorbets with alcoholic spirits. One dairy-free option, The Sweet Sweet, pairs Faygo Redpop sorbet with coconut rum.

Págos Ice Cream Rolls & Bubble Tea, located at 623 S. Washington Ave., Royal Oak, serves rolled ice cream, a style that originated in Thailand in the early 2000s.

Shatila, a bakery in Dearborn at 14300 W. Warren Ave., offers Middle Eastern pastries and ice cream. It serves booza, a Middle Eastern ice cream known for its stretchy texture, in a phyllo dough or kataifi cone.
