CORTLAND — Kristin Baker was named head coach of the SUNY Cortland women's volleyball team on June 30, 2026. She succeeded Erin Glickert in the role.

"I am truly honored to be named the next head volleyball coach at SUNY Cortland," Baker said. "I am grateful to President Erik Bitterbaum, Director of Athletics Mike Urtz and the search committee for allowing me this opportunity."

"This institution is overflowing with excellence and pride both academically and athletically and I absolutely cannot wait to be a part of it," Baker said. Mike Urtz, director of athletics, welcomed Baker to the team. "We are incredibly excited to announce Kristin as our new head coach," Urtz said. "Her extensive experience with elite programs in the Northeast gives her the perfect skill set to keep our program on a highly competitive path."

Before her appointment at SUNY Cortland, Baker coached at Hamilton College from 2017 through the 2025 season. During her tenure there, her teams compiled a record of 69-96. Baker held the program's second-highest overall winning percentage at Hamilton College and the highest winning percentage over the last 30 seasons. Prior to her head coaching role, Baker was an assistant coach at Colgate University from 2009 to 2016. She also served as an assistant coach at the University of Dayton in 2008 and at SUNY New Paltz in 2007.

Baker, whose maiden name was Kristin Fiorillo, advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B championship match in 2002 while at Corning West. That championship final four was played at SUNY Cortland. She earned Southern Tier Athletic Conference all-star honors in the same year. Baker played volleyball at the University at Albany from 2003 to 2006, helping the Great Danes achieve three America East regular-season titles and appearances in the NCAA Division I tournament in 2004 and 2006. Her father, Lou Fiorillo, coached cross country at Elmira College.

Erin Glickert, whom Baker succeeded, stepped down in April 2026 to spend more time with her family. Glickert's teams had a record of 149-39 from 2019 to 2025 and won five SUNYAC titles during that period.
