HOUSTON — Marilyn Gonzales of Cypress filed a consumer complaint with the Texas Attorney General's Office against StubHub after the company canceled her family's World Cup tickets for a match between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 17 in Houston.

Gonzales stated that StubHub canceled the tickets on the day of the match despite having advance notice. "They knew on June 12 there was a problem — five days before the event," Gonzales said. She added, "I want StubHub to understand that others and I trusted them. We paid for tickets, and our tickets were not delivered."

A StubHub spokesperson stated in an email that the company is "heartbroken" over Gonzales' experience. The spokesperson said StubHub's priority is "finding comparable replacement tickets for customers whenever possible." StubHub indicated that Gonzales received a refund and an additional credit. The company declined to comment on the complaint filed with the Texas Attorney General's Office.

Gonzales stated she was not contacted by StubHub officials for days after the match and is considering filing a class-action lawsuit. StubHub's website states, "You will get your tickets in time for the event." At the time of reporting, tickets for an upcoming match between Canada and Morocco at Houston Stadium were listed for sale on the site.
