Model and influencer Nara Smith announced that her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, has been diagnosed with cancer and requires immediate chemotherapy. Smith shared the diagnosis in an Instagram video posted on a Wednesday.

The family received the diagnosis late last year after Smith and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, observed something suspicious on Whimsy Lou. They initially took their daughter to the emergency room, but staff there did not identify the issue. "They didn't quite know what to make of it," Smith said. Following this, the couple brought Whimsy Lou to their pediatrician, who then advised them to go to a children's hospital.

At the children's hospital, Whimsy Lou underwent X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy. Doctors informed the family that the cancer had spread and that chemotherapy needed to begin immediately. Smith did not specify the type of cancer diagnosed.

Describing her intuition regarding her daughter's condition, Smith said, "I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer." She also recounted the pediatrician's reaction, stating, "When we took her into our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment."

Smith noted added difficulties of navigating the situation while postpartum, caring for their other children, spending time at the hospital, and balancing work. "Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging," she said. Nara Smith and Lucky Blue Smith have four children: Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, Whimsy Lou, 2, and Fawnie Golden, born in 2025. Lucky Blue Smith also has an 8-year-old daughter, Gravity, from a previous relationship.
