MÓNACO — A bomb exploded in a residential building on Rue Révérend-Père-Louis-Frolla in Monaco shortly before 9:00 PM local time on Monday, June 29, 2026, injuring three people. Authorities stated the suspect fled on foot toward the French town of Beausoleil after the blast, prompting a cross-border search.

Two of the injured suffered serious injuries, and the third, a 13-year-old boy, is in stable condition. Two adults, aged 50 to 60, are in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The injured individuals were transported to a hospital in Nice, France. Early reports indicate the three victims are members of the same Ukrainian family.

CCTV footage showed an individual placing a backpack near the entrance of a residential building before walking away, and the explosion occurred moments later. Christophe Mirmand, the Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco, indicated that the incident is "likely a terrorist attack." The Monegasque government described the incident as a "deliberate" explosion.

Monaco authorities initiated a search operation that extended into France. Gérard Spinelli, the Mayor of Beausoleil, stated that a man was captured on camera fleeing toward Beausoleil. Approximately 40 French soldiers and two helicopters were deployed to assist in the search. Five vehicles and 14 firefighters from the Alpes-Maritimes departmental fire and rescue service arrived in Monaco at about 10:15 PM to support local responders.

Prince Albert II of Monaco released a communiqué stating, "all relevant state services are currently mobilized, in close collaboration with French authorities." He added, "We trust that they will clarify the circumstances of this tragedy as quickly as possible, identify those responsible and provide all necessary response, at all levels." No arrests have been announced, and the suspect remains at large.
