SPOKANE — Damian C. Eiffert received a 21-year prison sentence on June 26, 2025, after pleading guilty to the second-degree murder of his father, Robert Eiffert, in Spokane. Spokane County Superior Court Judge Harold Clarke III issued a 257-month sentence in the case.

Damian Eiffert fatally stabbed Robert Eiffert at an East Central Spokane apartment on October 22, 2024. Robert Eiffert, who was 61 years old, died at the residence, located at 29 S. Thor St.

Neighbors found Robert Eiffert in the doorway of the apartment building on the afternoon of October 22, 2024. One neighbor informed police they observed Robert Eiffert on the front porch and then saw Damian Eiffert exit the residence, step over his father's body, and depart in Robert Eiffert's vehicle. Detectives found a blood trail extending from the building's entrance to a recliner within the apartment, and court documents state police believed the assault began with Robert Eiffert in the recliner. A steak knife was located on the living room floor in front of the recliner, and court records indicate Robert Eiffert sustained stab wounds to his neck, head, and chest.

Raeline Eiffert, Damian Eiffert's mother, told police she received a phone call from her son shortly after the killing. She reported that her son said he had requested a ride to treatment from his father, which Robert Eiffert refused. Raeline Eiffert also told police her son stated he could no longer tolerate his father and had stabbed him. Damian Eiffert admitted to consuming methamphetamine and struggling with opioid withdrawal at the time.

Further, Damian Eiffert's ex-girlfriend told police she received a call from him using his father's phone. She met him in an alley, where he embraced her and said he had killed his father. The morning after the killing, on October 23, 2024, Damian Eiffert was involved in a standoff with law enforcement on Interstate 90. He attempted to flee before being apprehended by officers.

Spokane County Deputy Prosecutor Jonathan Degen stated that Damian Eiffert had eight felony convictions at the time of his arrest. He also had two outstanding warrants prior to his arrest on the murder charge. The 21-year sentence was at the lower end of the standard sentencing range for the charge; the higher end of the range approached 30 years.
