MANHATTAN — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced on June 29, 2026, that 17 Manhattan streets would be temporarily co-named after New York Knicks players to commemorate the team's 2026 NBA Championship victory.

The co-namings will feature blue and orange street signs with players' names and jersey numbers, placed on streets corresponding to those numbers. These signs will remain in place for four weeks. Examples include Sixth Avenue and West Houston Street for Jordan Clarkson, who wears number 00, and Sixth Avenue and West 3 Street for Josh Hart, who wears number 3. Other co-namings include Sixth Avenue and West 4 Street for Pacôme Dadiet, who wears number 4, and Seventh Avenue South and West 11th Street for Jalen Brunson, who wears number 11. Seventh Avenue and West 50 Street are co-named for Trey Jemison III, who wears number 50, and Seventh Avenue and West 51 Street are co-named for Mohamed Diawara, who wears number 51.

Mamdani stated, "This championship is bigger than the basketball. It represents what our city is capable of when the odds are stacked against us." He added, "For as long as we live, every New Yorker will remember the feeling of our city coming together — not because of tragedy or adversity, but out of joy and happiness."

DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn noted, "With each postseason win, more and more New Yorkers came together in the streets, on sidewalks and in plazas to watch the Knicks play and celebrate their improbable comebacks." Flynn said, "New Yorkers will never forget this historic championship run or the players that brought them together for the most joyful 10 weeks we've ever experienced."
