WASHINGTON D.C. — Deebo Samuel is a 30-year-old wide receiver and a free agent. The veteran player expressed readiness to continue his NFL career as he navigates the open market.

Samuel spent six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 2019 to 2024. The San Francisco 49ers traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders in 2025. He played one season with the Washington Commanders in 2025 before entering free agency.

During his 2025 campaign in Washington, Samuel played in 16 games. He recorded 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns. His production on the ground included 17 carries for 75 yards and one touchdown.

"Going on Year 8 … [I] still feel like I got a lot, at least like three, four good years left," Samuel said. He addressed the uncertainties of the current offseason process. "It's kind of been tough, not even going to lie to you. All the free agency stuff going on, waking up in the morning, looking at your phone, seeing if your agent hit you and was like, 'This team is interested,' or things along those lines. And it's been kind of like a roller coaster. [I've] been through a lot, not just ball," he said.

The player emphasized his commitment to performance regardless of external circumstances. With me and how I play this game, it's just like, no matter what I'm going through, no matter what I'm doing, if I'm able to perform, I'm going to go out there and put it on the line for my team," he said. He rejected suggestions that he might be nearing retirement."

And I'm overly prepared, overly ready for the moment. And whenever that right opportunity shows up, we here first, man. I'm ready to rock out," he said."

He also posted Ready for whatever!! On X. Former teammates reacted to his online presence. Kyle Juszczyk commented on Deebo Samuel's Instagram post, I have a guest house with your name on it." George Kittle's Instagram comment received more than 2,000 likes. Kyle Juszczyk and George Kittle are former teammates of Deebo Samuel with the San Francisco 49ers."

The 49ers offense operated without Samuel in 2025. No San Francisco 49ers receiver recorded more than 650 receiving yards in 2025. Jacob Cowing is a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers.

The team had previously reached the NFC Championship Game in 2024. In Washington, Samuel played alongside Jayden Daniels, who won Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2024. Jayden Daniels played in seven games for the Washington Commanders in 2025.

Samuel recorded 51 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns for the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. This production preceded his trade to Washington. The 2024 season saw the 49ers reach the NFC Championship Game. Daniels joined the Commanders in 2024, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors that year.
