HOUSTON — FBI Houston released a statement regarding alleged threats against Houston Stadium ahead of a FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match between Brazil and Japan on June 29, 2026. The bureau stated the threat currently lacks credibility but urged public vigilance.

FBI Houston became aware of the threats on Thursday morning, June 25, 2026, and indicated it is investigating the individuals responsible for the online communication. "FBI Houston is aware of a threat to Houston stadium circulating online," the field office said. "At this time, there is no credibility to the threat."

The agency noted it is collaborating with local, state, and federal public safety partners. "We are working with our local, state, and federal public safety partners to investigate who is behind the communication," the statement read. The FBI further advised the public to monitor their surroundings. "We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals to law enforcement immediately," the office said.

The match between Brazil and Japan was the sixth of seven World Cup matches held in Houston during the tournament.
