SANTA CLARA — San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk accused members of the NFL Players Association of lying and withholding information from him in a message posted to his Instagram story on June 29, 2026. "When members of the union that is in place to help players are lying/withholding information from a player on behalf of the team alongside a certified agent.. that's some straight BS!!!" Aiyuk wrote. He added, "Some players have no other place to go for information or help, and are relying on the union to help them continue advancing in their careers and lives! I'm sure there are great members of the union, so this message does not pertain to them, but about the ones in my specific case."

Aiyuk stated in a video posted to his YouTube channel that he terminated his Standard Representative Agreement with agent Ryan Williams in November 2025. "Also, I do not have an agent. I terminated my SRA with my previous agent through the NFLPA last year in November," Aiyuk said. "There's nobody who will be speaking for me. I'm not going to no third party or call no old people to get on here and speak for me. You're going to get it from me live and direct." NFLPA records listed Williams as Aiyuk's agent as of June 27, 2026, but by June 28, 2026, records officially listed Aiyuk without an agent.

In the YouTube video, Aiyuk accused 49ers General Manager John Lynch and Williams of being "predators." Aiyuk stated that Lynch visited his home unannounced. Referring to Williams, he said, "The reason why the agent being fired is such an important detail in this whole story is because that agent is also the agent of the general manager for that one team (John Lynch). And that agent really started this, because I fired him, but he wanted to text my wife like he's smart. Don't ever text my wife. You're fired. Get out of here." Aiyuk continued, "So he is also the agent for the general manager of that team. And these people are all weirdos, creepy predators. I don't care how long I have to wait to get to you my baby (the Washington Commanders), but if it involves (seeing the 49ers) first, I'm waiting."

Aiyuk also referenced 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan in the video, describing himself as having the "temperament of a f––– toddler" regarding the coach. "We is not cool. We won't be cool, and I will never be stepping in that building," Aiyuk stated. He later said he would enter the 49ers facility on October 19, 2026, for a game against the Washington Commanders.

On June 27, 2026, Aiyuk posted a photo to his Instagram story with a caption expressing frustration and asking to be removed from his team. The 49ers have voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk's contract for the 2026 season. Aiyuk is currently on the San Francisco 49ers reserve/left squad list.

John Lynch stated in early 2026 that Aiyuk had likely played his last snap for the organization. Aiyuk has expressed interest in joining the Washington Commanders. He suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season and did not play a snap in the 2025 NFL season.
