MILWAUKEE — The Chicago Cubs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 10 innings on June 28, 2026, at American Family Field in Milwaukee. Jordan Wicks recorded his first save of the season for the Cubs.

Ryan Rolison started for the Cubs, and Brandon Woodruff started for the Brewers. Gary Sanchez hit a solo home run off Rolison in the second inning. Ian Happ scored in the seventh inning on a wild pitch by Aaron Ashby, tying the game 1-1.

Bryse Wilson pitched 4.1 innings in relief for the Cubs, allowing four hits and no runs. He recorded four strikeouts and zero walks. Jacob Webb struck out Joey Ortiz in the bottom of the ninth inning, sending the game to extra innings with two runners on base.

In the top of the 10th inning, Pete Crow-Armstrong was intentionally walked and then stole second base. Alex Bregman was hit by a pitch. Joel Kuhnel walked Michael Busch to force in a run, giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead. Seiya Suzuki followed with a two-run single, extending the Cubs' lead to 4-1.

Christian Yelich hit a single in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Joey Ortiz, making the score 4-2. Jordan Wicks entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs. Wicks walked Garrett Mitchell, which allowed another run to score, bringing the Brewers within one run at 4-3. Wicks recorded the final out as Gary Sanchez grounded into a double play.

The Cubs finished their six-game road trip with a 6-1 record, winning two out of three games in the series against the Brewers. The win brings the Cubs' record in their last 16 games to 12-4. Milwaukee's record fell to 50-30 after their 81st game of the season. Matt Shaw exited the game due to wrist soreness and was pinch-hit for by Justin Dean in the ninth inning.

Bryse Wilson was acquired by the Cubs via waiver claim from the Philadelphia Phillies four days prior to the game. He is the 23rd player to make his debut as a Cub in the 2026 season. The Cubs have used 2,300 different players since 1876, which is the most by any team in Major League Baseball history.

Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said, "The guys are having fun right now, and we're playing good baseball." Counsell also noted, "We did very little offensively today, honestly. But we got enough done because we got great pitching performances." Wicks said, "Huge confidence boost." The Cubs are 5.5 games behind first place in the NL Central. Shōta Imanaga is scheduled to start the series opener for the Cubs against the San Diego Padres.
