Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was named to the NFL Top 100 Players list for the 2026 season, where he was ranked No. 92. Al-Shaair was the Texans' leading tackler in 2025 and was selected to the Pro Bowl that year.

Al-Shaair recorded 103 total tackles during the 2025 season. He also logged one sack, nine pass breakups, and two interceptions. "Azeez is physical, dude. When it's between the lines, he's gonna hit the (expletive) out of you. To be a Mike in this style of defense. He's making all the calls, he's dropping in the deep third, he's dropping everywhere. Athletically, you gotta be there. But mentally, you gotta really be there too, and I think Azeez really does that. I tell my wife this all the time: He's one of my favorite teammates I've ever had," said Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz.

During the 2025 postseason, Al-Shaair accumulated 15 combined tackles in two playoff games. Al-Shaair is a defensive captain for the Texans. "I have so much respect for Azeez and how he plays the game. Because he plays it so fast, so physically, so aggressively. I feel like that's a big reason of why they've been so dominant this year, is because of his leadership and just the way he plays football," said San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk.

"I think I am probably, truthfully, one of the most complete linebackers in the NFL," Al-Shaair said. The Texans finished the 2025 season with 12 wins. The team had the No. 1 ranked defense in yards allowed and ranked second in points allowed during the 2025 season.

Al-Shaair signed with the Houston Texans as a free agent after the 2023 season. He previously played for the San Francisco 49ers. He missed six games during his first season with the Houston Texans. Al-Shaair attended Florida Atlantic University and was not selected in the NFL Draft. His contract extension keeps him with the Texans through the 2029 season.
