CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT — Professional golfer Scottie Scheffler shot a 10-under par 60 during the second round of the Travelers Championship on Friday, June 26, 2026, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The performance gave him a two-shot lead over Viktor Hovland after 36 holes.

Scheffler recorded 11 birdies and one bogey. He began his round with a birdie, then a bogey, and then another birdie. He made four consecutive birdies late in the front nine and shot a 30 on the front nine. He also made four consecutive birdies in the middle of the back nine. He holed over 145 feet of putts during this round, following 95 feet of putts in his first round, where he shot a 64.

Scheffler missed a birdie putt from just outside 26 feet on the 18th hole. He also missed the green from 162 yards on the 17th hole but made an 8-foot putt for par. On the 18th hole, he missed his first fairway of the day, landing in a bunker, and his approach shot landed 20 feet below the hole. He ultimately made a tap-in par on the 18th after missing his birdie putt.

The 30-year-old from Dallas, Texas, holds the number one world ranking and has won 20 PGA Tour titles, including four major championships. His previous victories include the American Express tournament earlier in the 2026 season. Scheffler has not won a PGA Tour event in the 17 weeks prior to the third round of the Travelers Championship. He finished second at the 2026 Masters, the 2026 Heritage, and the 2026 Doral tournaments.

Scheffler stated that course conditions were softer with less wind in the morning compared to the previous afternoon. "Going out yesterday in the afternoon, when the greens get firm out here and the wind starts to blow, it can get tricky pretty quickly," he said. Regarding a missed putt on the 18th, he stated, "It was a little tricky. It actually went right to start, and there was a tonne of break right to left at the end." He added, "It was a tough read, but overall it was a really solid day. I was pretty happy with my execution."

Jim Furyk holds the PGA Tour record for the lowest round with a 58. Scheffler shot a 59 during the 2020 Northern Trust at TPC Boston. "It was kind of funny. It was like, yeah, it would be cool to shoot 59, but somebody has already shot 58 here, so it's not even the course record," he said.

Patrick Cantlay shot a 64 and Akshay Bhatia shot a 67 in the third round. Cantlay and Bhatia were tied for third place at 195 after 54 holes. Wyndham Clark, the 2026 U.S. Open winner, shot a 65 in the third round and was tied for fifth place at 197 with Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Ben Griffin, and Eric Cole. Scheffler and Hovland both parred the 16th and 17th holes of the third round.
