SEATTLE — The Seattle Seahawks signed quarterback Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract following the team's 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, 2026. Darnold completed 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown in the game, while running back Kenneth Walker was named Super Bowl MVP.

Darnold described his performance as disappointing. "I didn't play great in the Super Bowl," he said. "I missed way too many throws. We still won, our defense balled out, and I didn't turn the ball over, which helped. But dude, to win the Super Bowl that way, I was kinda bummed." He noted specific missed opportunities, including an overthrow to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first quarter, a missed out route to Cooper Kupp in the third, and an overshoot to Rashid Shaheed in the fourth.

In the 2025 season, Darnold threw for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions across 559 pass snaps. He completed 67.7 percent of his passes, recorded 29 big-time throws, and had 19 turnover-worthy plays, earning a 79.3 overall PFF grade. The Seahawks attempted 481 passes, the fourth-fewest in the league. This followed a 2024 season with the Minnesota Vikings where Darnold threw for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, achieving a 102.5 passer rating and a Pro Bowl selection.

Brian Fleury has replaced Klint Kubiak as the Seahawks' offensive coordinator. Darnold praised Kubiak's demeanor and noted his positive outlook on the quarterback situation involving Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza. Darnold also got married in the days following the Super Bowl victory.
