The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has notified travelers that ranch dressing bottles exceeding 3.4 ounces are prohibited in carry-on luggage on airplanes. This alert has prompted Hidden Valley Ranch and Kraft-Heinz Company to offer new product solutions for travelers during the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

The TSA posted on Instagram about travelers attempting to transport ranch dressing in their carry-on bags. A standard bottle of ranch dressing is 16 ounces, which exceeds the liquid limit of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) for carry-on luggage. The agency stated, "Yes, well your carry-on was not made for *checks notes* 4 bottles of ranch dressing..." The TSA also said, "If you visit us for a very important sporting event and discover RANCH while you are here... please pack it in your checked baggage on your way home."

The TSA noted a trend regarding visitors during the World Cup. "We have specifically observed that many European travelers are falling in love with ranch dressing and are trying to figure out how to take it home," the agency stated. Ranch dressing, made primarily of buttermilk, vegetable oil, and spices, is the most popular salad dressing in the United States, according to the Association for Dressings and Sauces.

In response, Hidden Valley Ranch plans to distribute seasoning mix packages in host cities during July. These seasoning packets allow consumers to prepare the dressing by mixing the powder with buttermilk and mayonnaise. Stacy Stokes, Vice President of Marketing for Hidden Valley, stated, "The interest of World Cup fans in this dressing arose naturally." She added, "Fill your suitcases with dry seasoning packets."

The Kraft-Heinz Company announced it will launch a version of its ranch dressing that complies with TSA regulations. Todd Kaplan, Marketing Director for Kraft-Heinz Company, said, "We are taking advantage of that moment." Sales for Hidden Valley Ranch reached approximately $1.5 billion last year. The U.S. government anticipates up to 10 million international tourists will visit the country for the World Cup, which will hold matches in 11 U.S. host cities.
