ANAHEIM — The Los Angeles Angels fired general manager Perry Minasian and appointed John Mozeliak as interim general manager and baseball operations consultant on June 26, 2026. Mozeliak will oversee day-to-day baseball operations and assist in the search for the next general manager.

Minasian took over the Angels' front office in November 2020. Team President Molly Jolly stated, "Perry has been a valued leader who worked tirelessly over the last six years to strengthen our baseball operations department." Jolly added, "I am grateful for his dedication, insight and many contributions to our organization."

The Angels are tied for last in the American League standings with a 34-48 record. The team has recorded 10 consecutive losing seasons and 11 consecutive non-playoff seasons, which are the longest active streaks in Major League Baseball. During Minasian's tenure, the Angels never won more than 77 games and never finished higher than third in the AL West.

Before joining the Angels, Minasian was a former Texas Rangers clubhouse attendant and held positions in the front offices of the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays. He worked as a protege of Alex Anthopoulos and had not interviewed for a general manager job before replacing Billy Eppler. Shohei Ohtani left the Angels for the Los Angeles Dodgers in late 2023.

Mozeliak departed the St. Louis Cardinals in October 2025 after three decades with the organization. He was in charge of baseball operations for the Cardinals for 18 years.
