MEMPHIS — The Memphis City Council voted 11-0 on June 23, 2024, to approve $5 million in bond funding for repairs and improvements at AutoZone Park.

The funding targets fire safety equipment upgrades, HVAC system replacements, and the installation of additional safety netting behind home plate. City of Memphis Chief Operating Officer Antonio Adams said, "It is an asset that has gone into disrepair. There are critical issues in which we've had to invest in that particular asset."

Memphis City Council member J. Ford Canale said, "We can't just let our baseball park go into disrepair. This is no different if you are talking about AutoZone Park, or the FedEx Forum, or anything we own." The council approved a separate $5 million funding resolution for the park during the previous year.

AutoZone Park is a 26-year-old stadium and serves as the home of the Memphis Redbirds, a Triple-A minor league baseball team affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. Average game attendance at the park is approximately 3,000.
