ORCHARD PARK — Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 23, 2026. New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, team owner Terry Pegula, and Mary Wilson attended the event.

The stadium is scheduled to debut for the 2026 NFL season, with the Buffalo Bills' first regular-season home game occurring on September 17. As of Friday morning, the cheapest available ticket for that game was listed at $702.10 on Ticketmaster.

A Buffalo Bills fan stated, "It's scary when you got a family of four or five and you've got to pay these kind of prices for tickets." Another fan remarked, "I probably will never see a game here." Nick Giammusso, Chief Executive of VIPTix, attributed the higher prices to the new stadium.

Giammusso added that the demand is also influenced by the Bills' performance and quarterback Josh Allen, as well as away teams with high appeal such as Kansas City and New England. He suggested that preseason games offer a more attractive price point for those wishing to enter the stadium. "If you really want to get into the stadium, the pre-season games are attractive price-wise," Giammusso said. "You're talking $100 for Pittsburgh."

The $2.1 billion open-air stadium has a seating capacity of 60,000 and will serve as the Buffalo Bills' home for the next 30 years. Taxpayers contributed $850 million toward the construction of the facility. Construction on the stadium broke ground in June 2023.

The architectural firm Populous designed Highmark Stadium, which includes a partial canopy covering more than 60% of the seating bowl. The stadium features heated seating options, premium clubs, and a natural grass field with underground heating coils to prevent freezing. It also has the world's largest stadium snow-melt system.

Scott Radecic, who played for the Buffalo Bills from 1987 to 1989 and is an architect for Populous, stated, "But this has got to be one of my top projects to be able to deliver a brand new building, for Populous, to the people of Western New York." He also described the building as "extraordinary" and comparable to "anything in the world." Radecic said the stadium has the largest home team warm-up area of any stadium in the NFL. This area includes exercise spaces, hot and cold tanks, sauna, and steam rooms, and is large enough for a quarterback to throw 50-yard passes.
