ST. LOUIS — The New England Revolution lost 3-1 to St. Louis City SC on Saturday in St. Louis. The defeat marked the Revolution's third loss in four games to start the 2026 season.

Ilay Feingold gave New England an early lead in the 14th minute. Two minutes earlier, Feingold had missed a shot from close range after receiving a pass from midfield captain Carles Gil. The Revolution created multiple scoring opportunities in the opening 18 minutes.

St. Louis City SC equalized in the 29th minute when Simon Becher scored after Brooklyn Raines was dispossessed. Chris Durkin scored the go-ahead goal for St. Louis at the end of the first half, converting a shot from a corner kick past goalkeeper Brad Turner.

Marcel Hartel added a third goal for St. Louis in the 83rd minute. St. Louis City SC had not won at home since August 2025.

First-year head coach Marko Mitrović deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation with Alhassan Yusuf and Argentine winger Luca Langoni as asymmetrical outside midfielders. Yusuf sometimes drifted into central midfield during the match, while Langoni remained wide as a traditional winger. The Revolution used the same starting lineup as in their previous match, a 6-1 home victory against FC Cincinnati.

Will Sands started in place of Peyton Miller, who had been kept out of the starting lineup by a calf injury at the start of the season. By Matchday 5, Miller was not listed among New England's injuries for the first time this season. St. Louis City SC frequently attacked down New England's left side and created multiple crossing opportunities.

Leo Campana entered the match as a substitute in the 59th minute but exited in the 80th minute due to injury. "He was out for two-and-a-half weeks and had a really great week of training with the team," said Mitrović in a postgame press conference. "We were very positive, but this is a different injury, so we have to see, once he does an MRI, what is the level of his injury."
