SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Target, Hunting and Fishing Club settled a lawsuit with the developer SA Given to Fly on June 25, 2026. The settlement includes an $800,000 payment and a permanent deed restriction banning outdoor firearm use at the club's property located at 6722 West Hausman Road.

SA Given to Fly, a limited partnership with ties to Mosaic Land Development, filed the lawsuit against the club and its board members in late 2024. The developer owns approximately 40 acres of largely undeveloped land adjacent to the club. The lawsuit alleged that projectiles from the club routinely trespassed onto the developer's land and that the club operated like a drinking fraternity.

The club and its board members denied the developer's allegations, including claims that bullets from the club had ever hit anyone's home. Justin T. Woods, an attorney for the club, described the decision to settle as a business decision.

The deed restriction permits archery if the facility is built, maintained, and operated according to a nationally recognized safety standard. It further specifies that archery facilities must be located sufficiently far from and pointed away from SA Given to Fly's property. The restriction also allows for firearm use if a proper indoor shooting range is constructed on the club's property.

Blake Yantis, a partner with SA Given to Fly and co-owner of Mosaic, said his partnership acquired its land in 2022. He stated that site work on the development could begin in late 2026. Yantis acknowledged the club's decision. "Credit to them for doing the right thing at the end of the day, and hopefully this allows them to kind of keep their property and maintain whatever social aspects of their club that they had prior, going forward," Yantis said.
