NORTH SOUND, ANTIGUA — Dhananjaya de Silva scored 120 runs before Justin Greaves dismissed him on Wednesday in North Sound, Antigua, during the opening day of the first Test between Sri Lanka and the West Indies. Sri Lanka, having lost the toss, batted first and was all out for 308 runs.

De Silva faced 150 balls during his innings, hitting 17 boundaries. He shared a 68-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Dinesh Chandimal, who scored 54 runs from 67 balls, including eight boundaries. De Silva then contributed to a 99-run sixth-wicket partnership with Sonal Dinusha, who made 43 runs.

Later, de Silva and Milan Rathnayake added 64 runs for the seventh wicket. Rathnayake scored 27 runs. When de Silva was dismissed in the 65th over by Greaves, Sri Lanka's score stood at 272-7.

Earlier in the day, Kemar Roach dismissed Pathum Nissanka with the final ball of the first over. Nishan Madushka scored 23 runs before Alzarri Joseph dismissed him and Kamindu Mendis in the 10th over. Shamar Joseph dismissed Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Mendis within four balls during the 26th over.

For the West Indies, Justin Greaves took 3 wickets for 39 runs. Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph each took two wickets. Kemar Roach also secured two wickets for 32 runs, bringing his career total to 296 test wickets at an average of 27.02. Jayden Seales and Greaves dismissed the remaining Sri Lankan batsmen.

West Indies openers John Campbell and Brandon King ended the day without scoring, having faced a single over before stumps. This match is the first game in a two-match series, marking Sri Lanka's first test match in a year and the West Indies' first of the current year. Sri Lanka previously won a series against Bangladesh with a 1-0 result. The West Indies has lost seven of its last eight test matches in the World Test Championship.
