TAMPA — Detroit Lions starting cornerback Terrion Arnold turned himself in to law enforcement on Wednesday in connection with a kidnapping and robbery in Florida. Arnold, 23, faces multiple felony charges, including four counts related to weapons and four counts related to kidnapping, harming, or terrorizing, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest records.

Authorities accuse Arnold of being the "primary conspirator" in an incident where three men in their late teens were held at gunpoint, battered, and pistol-whipped in Tampa in February, according to a Tampa Police Department statement. Some belongings were stolen from the victims during the incident. Arnold is expected to make his first appearance in Hillsborough County court Thursday afternoon.

The Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office stated that hours after reporting a theft, Arnold orchestrated the kidnapping and robbery. Arnold and his friends reportedly worked to get the victims, along with another person, to an apartment on February 4. Two of Arnold's friends initially held the victims at gunpoint and hit them while another streamed the events to Arnold. Arnold then came to the apartment while the assault was ongoing, and his friends stole some of the victims' belongings. The office stated that the felony charges carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison. State Attorney Suzy Lopez commented on the case, stating, "No one has the right to take the law into their own hands." Lopez added, "A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation."

Arnold and friends reported more than $250,000 worth of property stolen from an Airbnb in Largo in early February. Arnold believed two men in their late teens were behind the theft, but investigators determined this was not the case. The victims reported the robbery to police. Tampa police arrested six other people suspected of being part of the targeted armed robbery; two of these suspects have pleaded guilty, and four are being held without bond. The Detroit Lions stated they were aware of the situation but would not comment at this time. Arnold was a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and played college football at the University of Alabama.
