LAS VEGAS — The Nevada State Police released video footage on June 17, 2026, regarding a fatal police shooting that occurred on June 10, 2026, on Interstate 11 in Las Vegas. Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Dustin Dunbar shot Sean Shirazi and Corinne Barnes after Shirazi drove through a crash scene and pinned Dunbar against a fire truck.

Police stated that Sean Shirazi, 45, drove his vehicle through a crash scene in downtown Las Vegas and clipped a semi-truck. Shirazi used his vehicle to pin Trooper Dustin Dunbar against a fire truck. Corinne Barnes, 40, died from a gunshot wound to her torso at Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Sahara Campus.

Nevada State Police Colonel Michael Edgell stated that an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department's Force Investigation Team determined Shirazi used a vehicle that created an immediate threat to public safety and law enforcement personnel. "The vehicle itself became the weapon used during the assault on the trooper." Edgell said. Dash camera video from Trooper Donald Sanders showed him attempting to drive onto Interstate 11 when he encountered a black Toyota 4Runner blocking his path. Sanders was responding to assist Trooper Dunbar with a crash investigation.

Video shows a trooper repeatedly asking the SUV driver to move out of the way. The SUV then merged onto the freeway, and Sanders’ patrol car drove behind it before the SUV abruptly turned into the lane in front of the patrol car. Trooper Sanders radioed Trooper Dunbar to notify him that the SUV was approaching the crash site. Video showed Trooper Dunbar approach the car from the front on foot while aiming his firearm at the vehicle. Body camera footage from Sanders showed him and Dunbar aiming their firearms at the driver and telling him to lower the SUV’s windows and put the vehicle in park. The SUV’s windows rolled down before rolling back up. During this interaction, Sanders could be heard saying, "I’m gonna shoot you." Sanders’ footage appeared to show him slapping the SUV before opening the driver’s side door. The vehicle then moved forward, pinning Dunbar against a fire truck. Trooper Dunbar fired five shots from his handgun toward the driver’s side door of Shirazi’s vehicle, and then fired an additional shot toward Shirazi’s SUV after he was unpinned.

Shirazi appeared in court on June 17, 2026, facing counts of second-degree murder, disobeying a police officer, resisting an officer, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, and battery and assault against a first responder. Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Kristal Bradford appointed the public defender’s office to represent Shirazi. Prosecutors stated that evidence justified the more severe murder charge, as Shirazi initially faced a manslaughter charge.
