KATY, TEXAS — Katy Independent School District (ISD) confirmed an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a student with special needs at McDonald Junior High. Court records allege that a 13-year-old male student sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female classmate on January 2.

A search warrant states that the 14-year-old girl informed administrators at McDonald Junior High that her classmate forcibly kissed her, pushed her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her. The alleged victim has autism and a speech impairment. Documents indicate that administrators reviewed surveillance video showing two classmates entering a room together and then exiting.

The girl went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination on the day the incident was reported. The search warrant specifies that insufficient DNA evidence resulted from this hospital examination. The warrant seeks a cheek swab from the male student as part of the ongoing investigation.

A Katy ISD spokesperson stated that the district takes such matters seriously, and the district police department has been actively investigating since the matter was reported. The spokesperson added that campus and district staff do not tolerate any behavior that may threaten the safety of a child. "Students found to be involved in such activity face swift disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan, the Student Code of Conduct, and law enforcement," the spokesperson said. "Providing a safe and secure environment inside and outside our classrooms will always be our top priority." The Harris County District Attorney and the Harris County juvenile court did not confirm or deny involvement in the case, citing that it involves minors.
