ALACHUA COUNTY — Jamiere Baker, 19, was arrested around 1 a.m. on June 19 near SW Archer Road in Archer, Florida. Baker is facing charges including two counts of felony burglary of an unoccupied structure, one count of felony grand theft of a motor vehicle, and one count of felony criminal mischief to a church or religious article.

Two witnesses reported hearing glass break near First United Methodist Church on SW 137th Lane at approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 18. One witness observed a tall man in a gray hoodie and shorts leaving the church and heading north. Deputies later located Baker north of the church, and he was wearing a gray hoodie and shorts that matched the witness description.

Deputies found car keys labeled "First Baptist 2017 VAN." on Baker. They also found a small box of "Black Cat" firecrackers and less than 20 grams of marijuana in his possession. Blood was found near two broken windows at First United Methodist Church, one on each of two separate buildings within the church.

Baker had a fresh cut on his left finger and two smaller cuts on the back of his legs at the time of his arrest. The keys found on Baker were traced to Archer First Baptist Church on SW 137th Avenue. Pastor Michael Wright Fox informed deputies that the keys and a 2017 silver Chevrolet Express van had been reported stolen in a previous case.

Fox also confirmed that a box of firecrackers was missing from his office. Baker admitted to deputies that he entered a church on June 9, where he found the van keys and subsequently drove the vehicle. He also stated that he entered First United Methodist Church on June 19 through a window and took the firecrackers. Baker was booked into the Alachua County Jail.
