Naperville Police Department officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on Thursday, June 18, near a Jewel-Osco at 1759 W. Ogden Ave. around 4 a.m. Following an investigation, Davyon Toney, 19, of Oswego, Jalen Green, 19, of Naperville, and Tyrell Mays, 19, of Montgomery, were charged in connection with the incident.

Court filings indicate two female victims traveled to the area so one of them could fight Tyrell Mays. Mays allegedly discussed fighting one of the women during a FaceTime call and ordered an Uber for the two women from Chicago to Naperville. The women were dating each other, and Mays had expressed romantic interest in one of them.

Upon their arrival, Tyrell Mays began fighting one of the victims. During this altercation, the second woman grabbed a backpack that the first woman had dropped, which contained a firearm. Davyon Toney and Jalen Green allegedly pushed the second woman into a fence when she reached for the backpack. Green then displayed a handgun, hit the second victim in the head with it, and took the backpack from her. Mays and Green allegedly instructed both women to give over their possessions and searched them.

Both women called 911 following the incident. While one of the victims was speaking with police, Tyrell Mays called her and asked if she wanted her Firearm Owner's Identification Card back. Mays told the victim she could retrieve her wallet if she paid him $250. Police later located Mays attempting to flee the area in an Uber and recovered the allegedly stolen gun.

Later that afternoon, police searched Jalen Green's residence in Naperville. They arrested Davyon Toney and Jalen Green at Green's residence. Police recovered the handgun used during the incident and additional items allegedly stolen. Toney, Green, and Mays have been denied pre-trial release and are scheduled to appear in court on July 13.

Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres issued a statement regarding the incident. Arres said, "Violent crimes such as armed robbery have no place in our community." He added, "These charges reflect the seriousness of the allegations and the commitment of the Naperville Police Department to aggressively investigate violent crimes, seek justice for victims, and hold those responsible accountable."
