KIDWELLY — Dyfed-Powys Police declared a major incident following a bus collision on a roundabout on the A484 on the outskirts of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire. The collision occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., resulting in at least 26 reported injuries.

The bus involved in the incident flipped onto its side. All passengers were removed from the vehicle by 3:30 p.m. Following their removal, passengers received care at a rest center located at Kidwelly's John Burns Foundation center.

Emergency services responded to the scene, including two air ambulance helicopters, ground paramedics, police, and fire services. First Bus confirmed that its X11 service, operating between Swansea and Llanelli, was the vehicle involved in the collision.

The road between the Kidwelly roundabout and Llandyfaelog was closed until further notice. Dyfed-Powys Police urged individuals trapped in traffic to take precautions against the hot weather, advising them to seek shade, stay hydrated, exercise caution with children and other vulnerable individuals, and avoid leaving people or pets unattended in vehicles.

Nia Griffith, the MP for Llanelli, said, "My immediate thoughts are with all those people who were involved in the crash, and the emergency services who are helping them." Griffith also stated, "I would reiterate the official request for the public to stay away and find alternative routes to the Parc y Bocs roundabout to Llandyfaelog Road."

The Hywel Dda health board stated that Accident and Emergency departments were likely to experience increased activity as local hospitals managed the aftermath of the crash. The health board also indicated that waiting times could be longer, as individuals with the most urgent needs would be treated first.
