HOUSTON — The Houston Fire Department is responding to a fire at a recycling facility in the East End area of Houston. The fire was reported at approximately 2:49 p.m. near the intersection of Manchester and Kellogg Street.

Smoke from the fire is visible from Houston Transtar cameras on nearby highways. A pile of trash and debris is burning on the property, which includes tires. No injuries have been reported.

Approximately 100 firefighters are working to extinguish the fire. Firefighters are also collaborating with agencies to assess air quality in the area. A fire engine has been dispatched to ensure the fire does not spread beyond a tree line, beyond which a neighborhood is located. No evacuations have been ordered.

Officials stated that the burning materials include rubber tires, which can produce thick smoke when ignited. Crews are monitoring wind conditions to determine if additional precautions are necessary for residents in the vicinity. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as firefighters continue to contain the blaze.
