CHICAGO — Morningstar Farms initiated a voluntary recall of bags of Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets and Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties due to the presence of plastic pieces in the food. The recall was announced in a press release dated June 18.

The recalled products were available in supermarkets throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica. The Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets were sold in 10.5-ounce bags with UPC code 000 28989 10110 5, bearing best-by dates of July 7 and July 8, 2027. The Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties were distributed in eight-ounce bags with UPC code 000 28989 10094 8, with best-by dates of July 5, July 6, and July 7, 2027.

A Mars spokesperson stated that the brand recalled a limited number of both product varieties following customer complaints. Morningstar Farms is headquartered in Chicago and is a subsidiary of Mars. No injuries were reported in connection with the recall.

The press release included the statement: "En Morningstar Farms, proteger la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros consumidores es nuestra máxima prioridad." The company added, "En cuanto supimos de un posible problema, actuamos con rapidez para investigar e identificar cualquier alimento producido que pudiera verse afectado." It further noted, "Hemos solucionado el problema y reforzado nuestros procedimientos de control de calidad para evitar que una situación similar vuelva a ocurrir en el futuro."

The press release indicated that no other Morningstar Farms products were affected by the recall. Customers who purchased the recalled products are advised to discard them and contact the company directly for a full refund.
