MONTGOMERY — The City of Montgomery demolished the former Paterson Elementary School building to make way for the new Premise Health Center. The elementary school building was constructed in the 1950s and is located at 1015 East Jefferson Street, behind the Montgomery City Court building near Madison Avenue.
Paterson Elementary School closed after the 2008-2009 academic year and its building has remained vacant since that time. The new Premise Health Center will provide services to city employees and their families, offering primary care, preventive health services, occupational health resources, and wellness programming.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said, "This project represents progress on multiple fronts. We are removing a long-vacant property that has been a concern for residents for years while investing in the health and well-being of the employees who serve our community every day. This transformation reflects our commitment to strengthening neighborhoods, modernizing city services, and supporting the workforce that keeps Montgomery moving forward." Chambliss King Architects is preparing construction documents for the project, and the city will initiate a construction bidding process after the documents are finalized.
