WASHINGTON, D.C. — First Lady Melania Trump was accompanied by a humanoid robot at the White House East Room for the final day of a summit convened by her Fostering the Future Together global initiative. The summit group discussed ways to empower children using education, innovation and technology, including artificial intelligence.

Melania Trump and the robot walked side by side along the red carpet from the opposite end of the hallway. The first lady paused just before entering the East Room while the robot walked around the table with the panelists and took up a position in the center of the room.

The robot scanned the audience before speaking. "Thank you, first lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House. It is an honor to be at Fostering the Future Together's global coalition inaugural meeting," Figure 03 said. "I'm Figure 03, a humanoid built for the United States of America."

"I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education," the robot continued. The robot offered greetings in ten other languages before thanking everyone and retracing its steps back down the red carpet.

"It's fair to state, you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House," Trump said during the event. The first lady also spoke about the potential for AI in education. "Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility. Imagine a humanoid educator named 'Plato.' Access to the classical studies is now instantaneous — literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics and history — humanity's entire corpus of information is available in the comfort of your home."

The startup robotics company Figure AI, based in Sunnyvale, California, introduced Figure 03 in October 2025 as its third-generation humanoid robot for people to use at home for tasks such as laundry, cleaning and washing dishes, according to its website and company literature. CEO Brett Adcock said on social media he was "proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot in the White House."

In videos from the summit, the robot mechanically strolled next to the first lady, welcomed attendees in several languages and waved its hand. Videos of the first lady walking beside the robot went viral online and gathered hundreds of thousands of views and comments.

There were 45 spouses from around the world at the summit. Attendees at the summit included Dr. Fatima Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, Martha Nawrocka of Poland, Brigitte Macron of France, Melania Trump, Lalla Hasnaa of Morocco and Sheikha Alyazia bint Saif Al Nahyan of the UAE.
