BEAUFORT RIDGE — The IDF announced that its 36th Division is clearing tunnels beneath Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon. The military also disclosed the deaths of more than 10 Hezbollah field commanders and their successors during recent operations.

Military personnel discovered maps of northern Israeli communities bordering Lebanon inside one of the tunnel routes. The group constructed an underground complex at Beaufort Ridge for emergency use after losing control of Beaufort Castle. This underground network includes multiple rooms configured to accommodate hundreds of personnel for extended periods, featuring living quarters, plumbing systems, and electrical infrastructure. The military stated the complex includes anti-tank and aerial defense systems intended for use against Israeli troops and civilians.

Forces targeted two units operating from an underground route in the south. Personnel recovered two Kalashnikov rifles and additional military equipment from the operatives. Military forces destroyed weapons and launch positions near the underground route. The IDF struck more than 70 Hezbollah infrastructure sites over a 24-hour period, including weapon launchers and buildings used for military operations.

Among the commanders killed was Hajj Salameh, commander of the group's Nasser Unit. Mahdi Bazzi and Ashraf Salloum, who succeeded Hajj Salameh, were killed less than two months after his death. Nasser Shaqir, commander of the Shaqif Sector, was killed, and his successor, Ahmad Sablini, was killed within 12 hours of Shaqir's death. Other commanders who died in the operations include Ali Abbas, commander of the Bint Jbeil Sector; Kamil Younes, commander of the Tyre Sector; Fuad Moussa, commander of the Hajir Sector; Hussein Salami, commander of the Jibshit Sector; Ali Khayekh, commander of the al-Khiam Sector; and Musallam Harb, commander of the Qana Sector.
