LA PLATA, MARYLAND — Dayton Webber, 27, allegedly shot his front-seat passenger, Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, during an argument while driving in La Plata, Maryland, at the weekend. Wells was pronounced dead at the scene in Charlotte Hall, Maryland.

Two backseat passengers refused to help Webber remove the victim's body from the car and flagged down La Plata police to report the shooting on Sunday night. A resident in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, reported finding a body in their yard about two hours after the shooting.

Webber was arrested hours later in Charlottesville, Virginia. According to a statement by the Albemarle County Police Department, officers arrested Webber without incident after recognizing him from gas station security video. Webber faces charges of first-degree murder and second-degree murder in Maryland.

Webber is a quadruple amputee and professional athlete who competed in the American Cornhole League. He was the first quadruple amputee to compete in the American Cornhole League. According to a 2023 essay by Webber, his arms and legs were amputated when he was an infant after a blood infection. Doctors told Webber's parents he had only a 3% chance of surviving the blood infection.

In the 2023 essay, Webber wrote, "They told my parents there was only a 3% chance that I'd survive." He also wrote, "I went from overcoming a serious blood infection and undergoing a quadruple amputation as a baby to becoming a professional athlete as an adult." Webber describes himself as a motivational speaker on his social media profiles.

Webber's social media profiles feature videos of him firing guns with titles such as "No Hands No Feet Shooting."

The American Cornhole League said in a statement, "Our thoughts are with all those impacted, including the family and loved ones of Bradrick Michael Wells."
