LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Disney+ will release the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on March 24 featuring Miley Cyrus alongside family members and guest appearances. The one-hour special will be available on the streaming platform at 3 a.m. ET and midnight PT.

The special will include appearances by Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Tish Cyrus. Selena Gomez will make a cameo appearance in the special. The program will feature a sit-down interview between Cyrus and Alex Cooper.

Cyrus performed "This Is the Life," "The Climb," and "The Best of Both Worlds" during the special in front of an audience of 215 people. The performance took place on a stage that resembled the show's title sequence. The special will also include a new original song by Cyrus.

Disney recreated the Stewart family house sets for the special. In the special's trailer, Cyrus is shown walking into the Stewart family kitchen and sitting down for an interview in the living room. Tish Cyrus contributed dozens of outfits, fan letters, and scrapbooks from her personal archives for the special.

"I didn't want to do this modern approach to Hannah. I wanted to keep it preserved. Making the anniversary special felt like home again," Cyrus said in an interview. The singer also reflected on personal connections to the show in an interview, saying, "I didn't think about the correlation between Hannah's house in Malibu and my house in Malibu, and my house burning down and me rebuilding."

Alex Cooper suggested starting the special with Cyrus driving along Pacific Coast Highway to a Hollywood soundstage. Cyrus was spotted by paparazzi driving a convertible in Malibu while filming the special. The special includes a recreation of the Hannah hair flip and a nod to the Disney Channel wand ID commercials.

The Disney Channel comedy series Hannah Montana ran for four seasons between 2006 and 2010. The show featured Miley Stewart as a fictional teenage girl who is ordinary by day and, with a blonde wig, a global pop sensation by night. Cyrus has been teasing a celebration for 20 years of Hannah Montana for over a year.

Gomez previously played Mikayla Marie, a rival of Hannah Montana, said in an interview. Cyrus and Gomez performed the song "7 Things" together at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards.
