RAMAPO, NEW YORK — Video footage shows a United States Postal Service worker shoving a 4-year-old Jewish boy to the ground while delivering mail in Ramapo. Ramapo police said the incident is not being investigated as a hate crime because officials do not believe it was motivated by religion.

The United States Postal Service worker involved is 39-year-old Gabriel Stan. Gabriel Stan was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor attempted assault. A felony attempted assault charge was added after outcry from the community.

The video footage shows the boy's yarmulke being knocked off his head when he was shoved. After being shoved, the child retrieved his yarmulke and walked away.

According to neighbors, Gabriel Stan lives with his parents in Stony Point. The phone number listed for Gabriel Stan was not in service. No one answered the door at Gabriel Stan's family home on Sunday.
