Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen said he is not big on self-reflection and aims for zero introspection or as little introspection as possible, sparking debate among technology entrepreneurs on X.

"I found people who dwell in the past get stuck in the past. It's a real problem. It's a problem at work, and it's a problem at home," Andreessen wrote. He added that "The great men of history didn't sit around doing this stuff."

Entrepreneur Paul Graham challenged Andreessen's historical claim. "That's not true. Do you not feel that Charles Darwin, for example, was among the great men of history?" Graham responded.

Andreessen described introspection as "Introspection was the combination of neuroticism, narcissism, and thumbsucking." He also wrote "As Peter Thiel is to the antichrist, Andreessen is to introspection."

Technology entrepreneur Elon Musk supported Andreessen's view. "Reinforcing negative neural pathways via therapy or introspection is a recipe for misery. Don't cut a rut in the road," Musk wrote.

Andreessen posted quotes from his therapist named Claude on X and recommended a book on the platform. He wrote that many of his critics need to do more introspection.

Andreessen is cofounder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
