STATEN ISLAND — The Wu-Tang Clan completed its 'Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber' farewell tour in July 2025, concluding a run that spanned Europe, Australia, and Japan. Billboard Boxscore estimated in August 2025 that the tour grossed $30.6 million across 27 shows held between June and July, averaging $1.2 million per performance.

The Japan leg of the tour took place on May 24, 2025, following RZA’s scheduled appearance at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards. The tour marked the group’s final collective concert series, bringing together members RZA, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna for what they billed as a definitive farewell.

The group’s deep connection to martial arts cinema has long shaped its artistic identity. Before adopting their stage names, Robert Diggs and Gary Grice—later known as RZA and GZA—were avid fans of martial arts films during their childhoods in New York City. Members of the Wu-Tang Clan, including RZA and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, frequented theaters on 42nd Street in Manhattan to watch kung fu movies that would later influence their music. RZA drew direct inspiration from the 1980 jidaigeki film 'Shogun Assassin' when producing GZA’s 1995 solo album 'Liquid Swords.' He said, "In Japanese samurai movies, it’s one stroke kills." He added that he selected 'Shogun Assassin' to represent the GZA because "his lyrics are straight to the point."

RZA told Vanity Fair, "Our tongue is like a sword. If you think you’re the best lyricist, you must be using the Wu-Tang sword, and so we’re the Wu-Tang Clan. We felt we were the best lyricists in hip-hop."
